Swarm of bees attack girl students

A swarm of bees stung twenty-five girls at the Government Girls High School No 2 in Islampura on Monday.

According to teachers and students, bees of a big hive of a school tree attacked the minor students who were shifted to DHQ hospital by Rescue-1122. Additional Deputy Commissioner (revenue) Ahmad Khawar Shahzad visited the hospital and met the affected children.

DC Moazzam Iqbal Sipra also took the notice of the incident and directed the education department officials to remove all hives of bees from trees of schools in the district.

MAN DIES: A man died and three others sustained injuries in a collision between two motorcycles at Gojra on Monday.

According to police, Zohaib Masih of Chak 179/GB was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by motorcyclists Samson Masih, Faras Masih and Haroon Masih (all brothers) of Chak 178/GB, leaving Zohaib dead on the spot and three others injured who were rushed to Gojra THQ and then to Faisalabad Allied Hospital.

LAUDED: Locals lauded the stoppage of Shalimar Express when it stopped on the first day on Monday. The locals lauded the effort of the Federal Railway Minister and raised slogans in favour of the PML-N leadership and showered flower petals at the train.

On the occasion, MNA Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said on his request the PR minister approved the stoppage.

Sports

FAISALABAD: Steering Committee for Sports chairman/MNA Hanif Abbasi Monday said the Punjab government has accorded top priority to the development of sports and billions of rupees were being spent on sports projects across the province.

Presiding over a high-level meeting held to review progress work of sports projects in Faisalabad division, Abbasi said no delay would be tolerated in the completion of uplift projects.

He said in this regard following the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister he was visiting divisions of the province and inspecting the quality of work of sports projects.

Parliamentarians Chaudhry Shahbaz Babar, Mian Tahir Jameel, Chaudhry Afzal Sahi, Faqir Hussain Dogar, Rao Kashif Raheem, Rai Usman Kharal, Divisional Commissioner Momin Agha, Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani, Additional Commissioner Coordination Malik Khadim Jilani, Divisional Sports Officer Rana Hammad Iqbal, ACG Mahr Shafqat Ullah Mushtaq, officers of sports and building departments and contractors were also present on the occasion.

Enrolment

JHANG: A special meeting held to review the progress of Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) programmes in the district on Monday was told that enrolment target of boys and girls public schools has been achieved up to 85.63 per cent.

District Education Authority’s CEO Riaz Ahmed, District Education Officers Abdul Rehman and Mrs Kausar Nasim, male and female Deputy District Education Officers and Assistant Education Officers attended the meeting.
