LAHORE
A constable shot and wounded by some unidentified car riders near Lady Willingdon Hospital two days ago died in a local hospital on Thursday.
The martyred constable was identified as Rizwanullah aged 32. Rizwanullah along with his colleague Zafar Iqbal was passing through Tibbi City area when some unidentified car riders intercepted them and opened firing, as a result of which Rizwanullah, Zafar Iqbal and a passerby received fatal wounds. They were admitted to a local hospital where Zafar Iqbal succumbed to his wounds on Wednesday.
IGP Mushtaq Sukehra, SSP Admin Rana Ayaz Saleem, senior police officers and families of martyrs attended the funeral at Police Lines Qila Gujar Singh. An active squad of police officials presented salute to the martyr and the police officers laid the wreath on his grave.
The IG said action against terrorists, anti-social elements and their facilitators would continue till peace was completely maintained in the province. He said both of the CIA officials embraced martyrdom while fighting against robbers and anti-social elements.
He said the persons involved in the murders of the two cops would soon be arrested. Responding to a query, he said the investigation of Babar Butt’s murder would be conducted on merit.
Rizwanullah joined police as constable on October 15, 2010 and belonged to Chak Jhumra, Faisalabad. His last deployment was at CIA Civil Line. He was survived by a widow, three brothers and a sister.
autopsy: A postmortem report of a newly-married girl found dead in her husband’s Samanabad house a day back ruled out that she was strangled. It was suspected that the victim was strangled by her husband.
However, forensic experts found no marks of strangulation around the victim’s neck. Police sent victim Hira’s viscera to a forensic science laboratory to ascertain the cause of the death.
