A policeman of Pakistani origin has become a hero in Hong Kong after saving life of a fellow Pakistani, local media reported on Thursday.
According to reports, 20 year old, Ifzal Zaffar,talked a man out of killing himself as the latter climbed up a crane near an under construction building.
Zafar convinced the suicidal man to come down by speaking to the man in fluent Urdu.
The man was later moved to hospital.
Zaffar who is also fluent in Cantonese told local newspaper Apple Daily, “I used the techniques we learned at the academy … I think he felt safer knowing that I could talk to him in his own language.”
The police man became a social media sensation with hundreds of people praising this local hero for handling the situation wisely.
Muslim council of Hong Kong also applauded Ifzal Zaffar and said in a statement: “Bravo to this young man and thank you to the HK police force for bringing him in. Hope more such stories can be seen to show HK is indeed a multi-cultural city.”
The 20 year old’s looks were also discussed by media outlets with some social media users calling him “pretty boy cop” and “Hong Kong’s most handsome police officer”.
