Iran's parliament speaker Bagher Ghalibaf says US will decide if it 'can earn our trust'
After hours of continuous negotiations with theUS ended without agreement in Islamabad, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of the Parliament of Iran, has released his first official statement, highlighting Iran's stance on de-escalating the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Ghalibaf posted a series of tweets on X (previously Twitter), sharing that he showed good faith and will before entering marathon negotiations with the US, “but due to the experiences of the two previous wars, we have no trust in the opposing side”.
He added, “My colleagues on the Iranian delegation Minaab168 raised forward-looking initiatives, but the opposing side ultimately failed to gain the trust of the Iranian delegation in this round of negotiations.”
The parliamentarian quipped that America will “decide whether it can earn our trust or not?” as it is now well aware of Iran’s “logic and principles.”
“We consider every mirror to be another method of authority diplomacy, alongside military struggle, for upholding the rights of the Iranian nation, and we will not for a moment cease our efforts to consolidate the achievements of the forty days of Iran's national defense,” Ghalibaf said.
He also extended his appreciation for Pakistan for becoming a mediator to stabilize a temporary ceasefire in the region of the Middle East.
“I am also grateful for the efforts of our friendly and brotherly country, Pakistan, in facilitating the process of these negotiations, and I send my regards to the people of Pakistan,”Ghalibaf stated.
