Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) will provide all kind of municipal services needed for conducting PSL final in the provincial capital.
This was announced by Lahore Lord Mayor Col ® Mubashir Javed while chairing a meeting held here to discuss the arrangements for PSL final cricket match here on Thursday. PSL final cricket match will be held at Gaddafi Stadium on 5th of March for which MCL will provide all kind of municipal services especially cleaning and enforcement of prices of drinks and snacks inside the stadium. The meeting was attended by assistant commissioners, metropolitan officers and TMOs.
Addressing on this occasion, Col (R) Mubashir Javed said it was the responsibility of officials to make this event successful to open the door for international cricket in the motherland for which all officials must perform their duties honestly and whole-heartedly.
“Metropolitan Lahore will have best sort of municipal service on the venue and route to the stadium regarding cleanliness, lighting, parking and others”, Mubashir Javed said. He also appointed officials on different spots for proper monitoring of arrangements related to MCL.
LWMC: More than 100 members sanitary crew of Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has been deployed at Gaddafi Stadium for cleanliness arrangements during Pakistan Super League final.
Officials said cleanliness squad will remain on duty until the end of the match ensuring best sanitation arrangements on the premises and surroundings of Gaddafi Stadium. Cleanliness squad will help the stadium administration in manual sweeping, waste picking, dusting and washing of washrooms and roads. On the request of the stadium administration, LWMC has already performed the task of waste removal, litter picking, road washing and sweeping prior to the commencement of the mage event.
Managing Director of LWMC Bilal Mustafa Syed also paid special visit to inspect and check sanitation arrangements made so far along with Senior Manager Operations Sohail Anwar Malik, Manager Operations M Asif, Assistant Manager Jam Abbas and Hamza Ali. He also had a meeting with stadium administration and assured them of complete cooperation in this regard.
Snake show: Pet Centre of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Thursday organised a snake show and demonstration at the city campus.
According to a press release, Dr Muhammad Ashraf inaugurated the snake show. Faculty of Veterinary Science Dean Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Dr Asim Khalid, Dr Uzma Durrani, noted snake handler Imran Mumtaz, faculty members and a large number of students were also present. Various species of snakes were displayed, including non-venomous and venomous snakes e.g. krait, vipers, black cobra, red spotted and earth boa snakes and Indian rock python.
The main purpose of the show was impart knowledge especially to the veterinary students about the unique creature of nature.
Meanwhile, UVAS Office of University Advancement and Financial Aid (OUAFA) organised concluding ceremony of the four-day project management training for FATA Livestock and Dairy Development Department veterinary officers.
quiz: Library Society of Government College University (GCU) has won the university’s Annual Interdepartmental and Intersociety Quiz Competition 2017.
Thirty teams from different departments and societies of the university took part in the quiz contest organised by the Ravians Quiz Society (RQS) on the topic “Life and Works of the Poet of East Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.”
Justice (r) Nazir Ahmed Ghazi was the chief guest at the prize-distribution ceremony. GCU Faculty of Languages, Islamic and Oriental Learning Dean Prof Dr Iqbal Shahid was also present.
A team comprising Bilal Hassan and Waleed from GCU Library Society stood first while Nida Irfan and Kinza Binta Sultan from Department of Psychology secured the second position. Fazl-ur-Rehman and Rana Qamer Iqbal from Department of English Literature were adjudicated third. RQS Adviser Dr Nasima Rehman said quiz was a mind sport and helped expand students’ knowledge. She said RQS held quiz contests on different topics throughout the year.
Justice (r) Ghazi appreciated the efforts of GCU-RQS and advised the students to focus on the positive use of their abilities and resources.
