16 labs, centres stopped from working

The Punjab Healthcare Commission on Wednesday stopped 16 laboratories, diagnostic and collection centres from functioning since these did not meet requisite standards of providing services besides having inadequate equipment and unqualified staff.

According to a press release issued here, a PHC team visited different localities of Shalimar and Daroghawala. The labs included Zeenat Lab Collection Centre, City Lab and Research Centre, Ghani Medical Lab and X-Ray Centre, New Finical X-Ray and Pathological Laboratory, Hassan Medical and Diagnostic Centre, Al-Noor Laboratory, Zeenat Laboratories and Collection Centre, Shalimar, Mian Diagnostic Centre, Finical Digital X-Ray ECG, Ultrasound and Pathological Laboratory, Tariq Clinical Laboratory, Medix Laboratory and X-Ray, ECG, Pathological Lab, Medix Diagnostic Lab, Shalimar Lab and Collection Centre, Medicare Laboratories, Al-Madina Lab and Rana X-Ray Lab.

Most of these labs and centres did not meet even the basic standards of conducting medical and pathological tests since these lacked both the equipment and qualified staff.

The Punjab Healthcare Commission has initiated legal proceedings against the owners of the labs and they have been directed to appear before the Commission on March 2.
