A delegation led by Pakistan Muslim League-N, Sindh President, Ismail Rahu called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here Friday and discussed matters of mutual interest, party affairs and overall situation of the country.
Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said the government was taking effective measures with mutual consultation for overcoming terrorism, energy crisis and other issues being faced by the country. He said the elimination of terrorism and resolving energy crisis was essential for national progress and prosperity and said the whole nation had united in the war on terror and every citizen of the country wanted eradication of terrorism and extremism.
He said every member of society would have to play due role for coping with the menace of terrorism and the all-out effort would be made to rid the country of this scourge. He said the Punjab government had constituted anti-terrorism force and it was being imparted modern training on a par with the national standards. He said terrorists had caused an irreparable loss to the country and even innocent children had been subjected to the worst brutality. He said the elements martyred innocent children would soon meet their logical end and Pakistan would be made a haven of peace.
He said a comprehensive planning had been made for resolving the energy crisis. He said the government had also initiated Apna Rozgar Scheme with a huge sum of Rs31 billion for providing vehicles on easy installments to the unemployed youth so that they could earn their livelihood in a respectable manner. He said that 50,000 families would benefit from this scheme.
The CM said the government was paying special attention to the welfare of minorities and they had complete religious freedom in Punjab while solid measures had been taken for the protection of their worship places.

apparel park: Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is an agrarian country and produces best cotton, especially Punjab has expertise in textile and garments sector. He said a plan had been evolved for the establishment of state-of-the-art Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park with the investment of billions of rupees in Punjab where special and modern facilities would be provided to the investors, workforce and textile and garments industry.
The chief minister said it was his dream to make apparel park the most modern park of South Asia which would be materialised at every cost.
According to a handout issued here Friday, the chief minister expressed these views during meeting with a delegation of International Investors Group of textile and garment sector, here, Friday.
Besides textile and garment sector, prospects of cooperation in the project of Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park were also discussed during the meeting.
The chief minister said a conducive environment had been provided to foreign investors in Punjab and special incentives were being provided to them regarding investment. He said electricity generation through cheaper sources was among the priorities of the government. He said that menace of terrorism and extremism would be eliminated with the force of unity of the nation, as peace was essential for the promotion of investment. He said that after acquiring GSP Plus status by Pakistan, textile and garment exports were increasing and Pakistani garments had got easy access to European markets. In view of this, a plan had been made for making state-of-the-art Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park and the government was working speedily on this project, he added.
Senior Vice President International Investors Group David Love lauded the policies of the present government regarding investment.
He said Pakistan had made remarkable progress in textile and garment sector. The delegation included Senior Vice President International Investors Group David Love, Senior Vice President Ms Liz O’Neil, Vice President Ms Anne Madison and other officials.
