PU: Punjab University’s Academic Staff Association has demanded Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif immediately dismiss SP Iqbal Town Adil Memon from service and appoint some honest and courageous police officer in his replace.

In a press statement, ASA President Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain and others alleged that the SP Iqbal Town was openly protecting rogue elements involved in disrupting peace on the campus. They said since the SP had not taken any action against the culprits, it clearly proved that he was providing shelter to the accused. They also alleged the SP did not have the etiquette to talk to teachers.

They alleged the registration of FIR against university security guards by police clearly showed his personal grudge.

They said that the university administration had submitted medico-legal of 10 injured security guards but police did not register an FIR on complaint of the university administration. They called upon the chief minister to take strict action against the SP.

It is pertinent to mention here that PU security guards and activists of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) had clashed at the Hostel Number I hall on Friday when the latter continued holding its event on the campus without permission from the university administration.
