A two-day national consultation on ‘Livestock Development in Pakistan-Way Forward’ organised by the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in collaboration with the Ministry of National Food Security & Research (NFS&R) Islamabad started on Tuesday.
Federal Secretary for National Food Security & Research Seerat Asghar presided over the inaugural session and said livestock was a rapidly growing sub-sector of agriculture and it could play a more vibrant role in economic development, employment generation and socio-economic stability of rural areas provided a level-playing field was available to its stakeholders.
Dean Faculty of Bio-Sciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Dr Qurban Ali, Animal Husbandry Commissioner, NFS&R, Islamabad and provincial livestock secretaries, stakeholders and experts were present.
On the first day of the event the participants held discussions on dairy and dairy processing, poultry and poultry products, meat and meat by products and animal health and veterinary services.
Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan will chair the concluding session on Wednesday (today).
