In a joint operation town administrations and traffic police removed encroachments, graffiti and illegal parking stands from the roads declared as model roads of the provincial metropolis on Monday.
City District Government Lahore (CDGL) declared twenty roads of the city as model roads including Peco Road, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road (Akbar Chowk to Peco Mor), Model Town Link Road, Ferozpur Road (Kot Lakhpat Area), Outside Circular Road (Ek Moria to Millad Chowk), Icchra Bazaar, Data Darbar to Texali, Motorcycle Market Mughalpura, Canal Bank Road (Dharampura to Lal Pul), Shalimar Link Road, Haji Camp, Allama Iqbal Road, G-I Market Johar Town, Walton Road, Masjid-e-Shuhda Mall Road, Bhatta Chowk roads.
As many as 51 cases were registered against shopkeepers involved in encroachments and illegal parking stands while 18 trucks of goods were confiscated. The roads were declared as model roads to maintain traffic flow.
DCO Muhammad Usman directed the central squad and town officials concerned to keep a vigilant eye on model roads and did not allow any shopkeeper to encroach on government land and footpath.
He directed traffic wardens to remain alert and remove all illegal parking stands from the roads.
