Colleges to recruit teaching interns

Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab has approved the policy for recruitment of college teaching interns (CTIs) in public colleges across the province.

Colleges have also started the recruitment of CTIs in subjects where teaching faculty is not available or is short. As per policy each CTI will be offered Rs 30,000 stipend per month. The notification reads each CTI would be recruited for one session only and there would be no age limit.

Tevta: Almost 32,121 companies have been registered on Skilled Labour Market Information System (SLMIS) of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta). Tevta Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while presiding over a meeting said the facility of free registration was available for all pass-outs of technical and vocational institutes of Tevta and employers on this job web portal so that unemployed skilled youths may find suitable job opportunities.

He said SLMIS developed by Tevta Punjab would provide key information on Punjab’s labour market, including market trends, skill training opportunities in different trades and technologies, data of graduating students and job seekers as well as vacancies for skilled personnel in the industry. This system would help to reduce unemployment and fight against poverty and enable the skilled youths of Punjab to contribute towards socio-economic development of country, he added. He further said the information system had successfully been launched during February 2016.
