LAHORE

Ajoka Theatre is presenting a new hard-hitting play about political corruption, at Alhamra Hall, today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday).

“Bala King“, produced in collaboration with Lahore Arts Council, is a new production of Bertolt Brecht’s play “The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui”. It is a savage and witty parable of the rise of fascism and Hitler, placed in which his story is recast as that of a small time gangster who becomes a powerful politician. The Punjabi adaptation is done by Shahid Nadeem and directed by Madeeha Gauhar.

On 25th of August, Ajoka will mark the Urs celebrations of Baba Bulleh Shah with its masterpiece, “Bulha“. The play is based on the events in the life of great mystic poet as communicated through his poetry, historical records and popular myths.

Bulleh Shah’s search for truth, his devotion for his mentor Shah Inayat, his opposition to the bloodshed in the name of religion, all are incorporated as powerful scenes in the play.
