'Ted: The Animated Series' reveals release date as it continues the films' story

Ted, an innocuous-looking teddy bear who uses cuss words liberally, is coming back to the small screen.

Ted: The Animated Series, a new Peacock series, will air on Dec. 17, 2026.

Season one will release eight episodes first, and the rest will follow next year.

But Ted: The Animated series, first announced in 2025, is not a reboot. Instead, it follows the Ted movies.

A key factor is that most of the original cast is returning, as the series is set 12 years after the events of the Ted films.

Seth MacFarlane will again voice Ted, Mark Wahlberg will voice John, and Amanda Seyfried will reprise Sam, with Jessica Barth as Tami-Lynn.

But the show also adds new characters. Kyle Mooney will voice Apollo, a new character, and Liz Richman will voice Ruth.

Ted: The animated series isn't the first in the Ted franchise.

Previously, Peacock released a live-action prequel series. The show's logline centers on John's high school years.

Meanwhile, the synopsis of the forthcoming series states, “Picking up twelve years after the conclusion of the last movie, John (Wahlberg) and his thunder-buddy Ted (MacFarlane) are neighbours, both with families of their own and dead-end jobs."

"Follow these two lovable stoners as they enable each other’s bad ideas about marriage, parenting and the challenges of adult life," the logline read.
