Courteney Cox says she fought for new directorial project for eight years
Courtney Cox is opening up about her approach to her work and how her care for every minor detail leaves her “exhausted.”
The 62-year-old actress, who worked in 10 seasons of Friends, seven Scream movies and six seasons of Cougar Town, recently caught up with People and shared that projects that take time do not bother her, as she likes long-lasting things.
“I mean, I’ve done seven Screams,” Cox said, adding, “I did 10 years of Friends. Six years of Cougar Town. I’m very into things that last a long time.”
She explained, “If I like something, I want it to last.”
Cox then talked about her new directorial project, Evil Genius, and shared that it was not an easy task.
“It was really hard to get off the ground. There was a lockdown, two different strikes. I’ve been working on it for eight years through all of that. And I just could not let it go.”
The actress added, “I had to make this. I was not gonna let it go. And I fought and fought and fought through all these obstacles.”
Elsewhere during the conversation, she admitted, “I’m exhausting because I just care about everything. Every detail. It’s that important.”
Despite the challenges, Cox noted she really enjoyed directing and it was a “great experience.”
She gushed, “I had amazing actors. I mean, I don’t wanna say amazing 50 times, but I have the most talented actors. Patricia Arquette, David Harbour … the best ensemble cast you can imagine. I had a really great DP. I had a truly great editor … It worked out beautifully.”
