Taylor Swift's fans were thrilled by the surprise announcement of her new single, Patient Zero, on Tuesday, but the excitement quickly turned into online criticism over the cover art.

Many pointed out what appeared to be noticeable editing issues in the image, particularly around Swift's side and underarm area, which some felt looked overly smoothed or digitally altered.

Social media users didn't hold back, with several joking that the photo looked overly airbrushed or even AI-generated.

"I'm so sorry but why does the side of her look so poorly edited? It looks way over-airbrushed and almost AI," someone wrote on X, while another said, "No shade, but they edited her armpit to HELL."

"The Photoshop on Taylor Swift's Patient Zero cover is horrendous... girl, you're a billionaire, please get a professional photographer," one person said on X.

Others pointed to what they described as a tilted horizon and awkward cropping, while some joked they could edit the photo better for free.

"The FaceApp blur, the badly cropped picture, the tilted horizon... she just pissed me off so bad."

One fan noted, "I can edit you better for free on Canvas." The comments under the original Instagram post have been limited.

The single's cover reveal followed a buildup of cryptic clues from Swift over the past several days, including subtle changes to her social media bios and a mysterious countdown timer on her website.

Fans had speculated the countdown might lead to wedding photos from her July marriage to Travis Kelce, or possibly a deluxe edition of her previous album, "The Life of a Showgirl."

Instead, Swift revealed the cover art and announced that "Patient Zero" will be released on September 25.
