Prince Harry’s UK return sparks fresh Meghan Markle concerns
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle face new public scrutiny.
It’s been more than two weeks since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK for an extended stay along with their children after almost 6 years and now it is said that it could bring back memories of Prince Harry’s “party Prince” days, as per Closer Online.
Moreover, an insider claimed that Prince Harry reconnecting with his old friends can put Meghan in difficult situation, stating, “This is a big topic of conversation because now that Harry’s home, all of his old friends, like Skip [Tom Inskip], Mark [Dyer], Charlie [van Straubenzee] and others are wanting to see him.”
Adding, “He’s stayed in touch with most of these guys, but he hasn’t seen them in years and he’s been missing them all like mad. He was very lonely in Montecito as far as friends go, so having time with his friends is one of the biggest plus points for him about coming home.”
The source went on to say, “But for Meghan, it’s a real tinderbox; she can’t help but worry that it will get him into a bad situation somehow. It was only a couple of months ago that his old party-boy antics were making headlines again, thanks to the journalist [Charlotte Griffiths, who Harry exchanged texts with before meeting Meghan] his supposed ‘friends’ introduced him to years ago, so her concerns aren’t exactly out of nowhere.”
Back in 2025 Prince Harry wrote in an essay, things he remembers fondly about his homeland. “The banter of the mess, the clubhouse, the pub, the stands - ridiculous as it sounds, these are the things that make us British. I make no apology for it. I love it.”
Now, it is said that Meghan is concerned about Prince Harry going “back to some of his old London haunts, have a cocktail or two and enjoy being back out with his friends again,” but she is worried that “pictures of Harry out drinking and looking footloose around London, the optics are just terrible,” and it could hurt their public image.
Furthermore, a royal commentator and author, Lady Colin Campbell made an unverified claim, and said that Meghan may want Prince Harry to remain in the UK. “I was informed that Harry has developed a close friendship with another woman who lives in California. And so, of course, if this is the case, it’s a strong incentive for Meghan to have Harry in the United Kingdom.”
The insiders also noted to the outlet, “Meghan wants to see him do any socialising in a private setting, ideally where they’re staying so that she can keep an eye on things. She has offered to host them to watch the rugby and she swears she has no desire to stop him from having friends. What she doesn’t want is him regressing or slipping up publicly in any way - not when they’re under more scrutiny than ever.”
But she may “have to compromise to some extent,” because Prince Harry would like to “see his friends.”
“And compared to what Harry’s friends may have in mind, her suggestions are pretty boring. But Meghan’s argument is that he’s a married father of two and an international philanthropist now and he needs to live up to a certain standard - end of story,” they further added.
