Saoirse Ronan wants to turn Bond's world upside down with new role
Saoirse Ronan is eyeing a role in the upcoming James Bond movie and it's not what fans might expect.
As the next Bond film is under development, though the next Bond has not been announced yet, the four-time Oscar-nominated actress has already pitched her role, noting that she is "dead serious" to play a female "Bond villain."
The 32-year-old actress told Empire on Monday, “I want to go dark.
“I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I’m dead serious.”
The Lady Bird star further explained her agenda, “I think it would be really interesting, having a young female villain. Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere, there’s something interesting about that dramatically. “
"So I would love to do more of that," Ronan added.
Back in 2024, she said something similar and described how she wanted the female villain to be portrayed in the upcoming James Bond film.
“There’s a lot to unpack there, you know?" she told Vanity Fair at the time. "There’s a lot to work on, which I like. But that is what I do like about something like Bond in general, is that the characters are very interesting. And I do think there’s something kind of cool about having a female villain who wants to take him down and doesn’t just want to fall in love with him.”
However, Amazon MGM Studios has not revealed when the filming of the next film will begin and who is going to take over Daniel Craig.
