Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce get green light as Ohio neighbors push back on landscaping plans at village meeting
Neighbors of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce criticized the couple’s plans for fencing and trees at their Bratenahl, Ohio, mansion during village planning meetings, according to transcripts obtained by the Daily Mail.
The couple wants more privacy and security at the $5 million lakefront home. In September, the Bratenahl Architectural Review Board approved a 6-foot fence. At a later Tuesday meeting, the board approved landscaping in front of the estate. A third plan will be presented at a future meeting.
Neighbor Katherine Bolton, who has lived next door for over three decades, said planting evergreens near the sewer line the two properties share could cause “catastrophic sewer backups.” She said she was quoted $75,000 to line the pipe against roots and is talking with the couple’s attorney. She also said Swift might sell the house next year and leave her with the problem. “What am I going to do when I have 50 evergreen trees on my sewer line, and they’re gone?” she asked.
Chuck Bauernschmidt, who lives two doors down, criticized the “clear cutting of the shrubbery.” He claimed “all the trees are gone” and worried deer could be hurt by the fence.
The couple’s planner, Jacob Kutz of Tiny Construction, defended them. He said they are “looking for privacy and security” after a high-profile home sale. He noted the fence plan had been cut from 8 feet to 6 feet and stops short of Lake Erie. Kutz said the couple has tried to be good neighbors by having the sewer line jetted and cleaned without asking for help and by adding a gate for Bauernschmidt, who felt “closed off.”
An LLC linked to Kelce bought the home in March. Page Six reported in September that the couple installed an alarm to warn anyone getting too close.
