Inside Princess Eugenie's decision to chose Queen Elizabeth's name for newborn baby: Report

Princess Eugenie named her newborn daughter after her great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, however, her move being described as an attempt to get closer to King Charles by royal sources.

The youngest daughter of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson welcomed her third child and first daughter with her husband Jack Brooksbank on August 3.

She honored Queen Elizabeth II by naming her newborn girl, who is the late queen's 15th great-grandchild, her first middle name after her: Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.

However, sources told RadarOnline that this sweet gesture is likely to make place in grandfather King Charles' heart.

An insider told the outlet, "Elizabeth is a name carrying enormous emotional significance for the entire family, but inevitably it will touch Charles particularly deeply because this is another generation carrying his mother's name. Eugenie adored her grandmother, and this feels like a very personal way of keeping that connection alive."

They continued, "But critics are saying she is deploying the Elizabeth tribute in a deliberate ploy to tug at Charles' heartstrings as, due to the considerable turbulence around her wider family, particularly involving Eugenie's father, she is now fighting to secure her place in the royal family.

"A new baby provides a much happier focus, and using the child as a tribute to Elizabeth is seen by some cynics as a way Eugenie can curry favor with Charles."

It is pertinent to mention that Eugenie is also the mom of two sons: August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, who is five years old, and Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, who is six years old.

Eugenie announced the name of her newborn daughter on Instagram two weeks after her birth with an adorable picture with her brothers.

She penned, "2 weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we've had the most special, cosy and love-filled time.

"We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank."

Eugenie added, "Named after three people we love and admire, past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts."
