Google ties Pixel 11 launch to five of Europe's biggest football clubs

Google is expanding its foothold in European football, signing long-term Pixel and Gemini partnerships with Arsenal, FC Barcelona, FC Bayern München, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

The deals name Google as each club's Official Consumer AI and Official Smartphone Partner, putting Gemini and the newly launched Pixel 11 series at the centre of matchday coverage across men's and women's teams.

Fans have already grown used to Pixel-shot tunnel interviews and pitch-side highlights from clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool.

According to Google's announcement, this renewed push expands those "Shot on Pixel" moments across all five clubs, while Gemini takes on a more active role as a tactical companion, able to break down mid-match formation changes or settle head-to-head stat debates on demand.

The launch coincides with the commencement of Europe’s major domestic football leagues. The Premier League begins with champions Arsenal taking on Coventry City, followed by Liverpool playing Newcastle the next Sunday.

In Spain, La Liga champions Barcelona are going to play against Elche, while Champions League winners PSG will be against Rennes before Bayern start the Bundesliga on August 28.

Media departments in the clubs are likely to use the advanced camera in Pixel 11 a lot for capturing unique moments, especially goal celebrations. The magic capture feature takes high-quality HDR+ photographs of the video recording automatically.

The Tensor G6 chip also brings 4K portrait video to the standard Pixel 11, while the Pro models add Pro Stable Video and 8K Video Boost for steadier, more detailed social clips and interviews.

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL extend to 120x Pro Zoom, combining 5x native and 10x optical-quality zoom for distant action, alongside a faster Instant Night Sight mode suited to evening kick-offs.
