King Charles criticized by Queen Elizabeth’s former aide

King Charles has been criticized over Buckingham Palace’s decision to change the monarch’s traditional title in this year’s Sovereign Grant Annual Report.

According to the report, the King, who was earlier called the "Defender of the Faith," will now be "Protector of the Space for Faith within the Multi-faith Nation."

Criticism has come from Queen Elizabeth’s former chaplain, Gavin Ashenden, who accused King Charles of violating the oath he took at his coronation to uphold the Christian faith.

According to GB News, Ashenden, who served as a royal chaplain for nine years, has expressed deep alarm at the change.

Taking aim at King Charles, he said, "the monarch has deserted Christian allegiance, turned his back on his Coronation oath repudiated the support and promotion of a Christian culture."

"Some are asking whether his behaviour is sufficiently subversive as to raise questions about his capacity to fulfil the office of King," GB News quoted him as saying.
