A royal author has revealed the real reason Meghan Markle wanted to be at Queen Elizabeth II’s deathbed, claiming she was just jealous of Kate Middleton.
According to royal author Tom Bower, the Duchess of Sussex wanted to be the part of “historic moment” and get photos by Queen’s deathbed.
During an appearance on Kinsey Schofield’s Unfiltered podcast, Bower said that the former Suits star wanted to show she was as important as Kate, the Princess of Wales.
Meghan and Prince Harry were in the UK for the duke’s Wellchild Awards when the queen’s health suddenly worsened.
In his new biography Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, Bower claimed that Meghan did not want to visit Balmoral before stepping down as senior working royal in 2020.
However, it changed when the late Queen was taking her final breathe. "She wanted to be there for the photo opportunity. She knew it was a historic moment," said Bower.
"She wanted to be there to show that she was as important as Kate and that she was part of the family on the eve of her return to back to America," he added.
The author continued, "I mean, everything she did was completely motivated with one agenda, her own fame and importance.
“That's why she wanted to go to Balmoral," Bower concluded.
