A holiday celebration turned into havoc after a young man all of a sudden ignited a fire in a superstore in Staten Island,New York State.

Police arrested a supermarket employee for setting the store on fire and putting everyone’s life at risk, including customers and other shopkeepers, reports Fox News.

A ShopRite employee has been arrested for allegedly starting a fire inside a crowded supermarket on November 26,2025-a day before Thanksgiving.

The store was opened for regular business with customers busy preparing for the holiday, when 21-year-old started igniting the fire on a shelf stocked with paper goods.

As per authorities, the flames spread quickly, causing an estimated $100,000 in damages, while no casualties or injuries were reported luckily.

Moreover,the New York City Fire Department FDNY officials appreciated a customer who took a prompt initiative by grabbing a fire extinguisher and knocking down the flames before the firefighters arrived.

As reported by the officials, Dominick Sacchetti is charged with multiple accounts of arson- a criminal act of deliberately setting fire to property;two counts of reckless endangerment, and two counts of criminal mischief.

"While residents of Staten Island were beginning to prepare for Thanksgiving with their families, this individual put the lives of shoppers and responding firefighters at risk," said FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker.
