Mark Wahlberg is sharing a reassuring update about his daughter Grace after her recent horseback riding accident left the 15-year-old with a broken collarbone.
The actor, who has been openly worried about the risks of the sport his daughter loves, said she’s recovering well, even if she’s frustrated about being kept away from the saddle for now.
During an appearance on Today, the Family Plan 2 star explained that Grace was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance after falling during an equestrian competition.
“She’s good,” he said. “She’s just angry that she’s not allowed to be back on the horse yet. She does have to take the time to recover. She broke her collarbone.”
Wahlberg didn’t hide how stressful it has been watching his daughter compete in a sport he considers incredibly high-risk.
Calling horseback riding “the most dangerous, nerve-wracking sport that I’ve ever watched and witnessed,” he admitted that the fear never really goes away. Still, he added with a smile, “But she loves it.”
The actor also praised Grace’s remarkable discipline and drive, saying she’s far more focused at 15 than he ever was at her age.
He explained that she was mostly worried about her parents deciding the sport was too dangerous for her to continue, but her passion makes it clear they’ll be supporting her return once she’s fully healed.
In a separate conversation with Access Hollywood, Wahlberg again shared that she’s recovering well and thanked everyone who reached out.
“She’s doing great. Thank you for asking,” he said, calling the accident “terrifying” but emphasizing that her dedication hasn’t wavered.
He noted that she couldn’t wait to “get back on that horse,” and was “worried that we would deem the sport too dangerous,” but he and his wife Rhea Durham understand how committed she is.
Grace also gave her own update on Instagram earlier this month, posting a carousel that began with a photo of her in a hospital bed wearing a sling, followed by shots of her in competition.
She captioned the post, “No pressure we will be back,” showing she’s determined to return once she’s cleared. Wahlberg reacted with emotional emojis, while Durham added an encouraging, “No doubt kid.”
For now, the family is focused on her healing — and letting their passionate young rider take the time she needs before she saddles up again.
