Lady Gaga makes honest confession about her mental health battle

Lady Gaga has recently broken her silence on her mental health struggle.

The actress and singer opened up about taking mood stabilisers to treat her mental health and even sought psychiatric care after filming A Star Is Born back in 2017.

“I did ‘A Star Is Born’ on lithium,” confessed the 39-year-old in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

Looking back at one of the most difficult chapters of her life, Gaga recalled that one day her sister complained to her that she didn’t see the singer for a long time because of her busy schedule at the time.

Therefore, the musician “cancelled” the tour and went back to her sister. Not only that, but also, she was so much in mental stress that Gaga went to the hospital for psychiatric care as well.

The Poker Face star realised that she “needed to take a break” from her hectic music career.

“I couldn’t do anything... I completely crashed. It was really scary,” recounted Gaga.

The singer acknowledged that there was a time, she thought she could not get better.

However, Gaga received the mental treatment she needed and eventually started feeling better again.

The songstress reportedly went on to win the Oscar for Best Original Song for Shallow in 2018.

Reflecting on her tough time, the musician “feels really lucky to be alive”.

“I know that might sound dramatic, but we know how this can go,” added Gaga.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Born This Way hitmaker revealed that she now thinks herself a “healthy whole person” because of her fiancé Michael Polansky.

“Being in love with someone that cares about the real me made a very big difference,” she concluded.
