Bindi Irwin Praises Brother Robert’s Heartfelt Tribute to Their Father

Robert Irwin mesmerised the audience with a heartfelt performance in a tribute to his late father, Steve Irwin.

During the celebration of Dancing With the Stars show’s 20th anniversary, each couple performed an old routine done by a previous couple.

Following the rules, the 21-year-old wildlife conservationist and partner Witney Carson performed a foxtrot to Footprints in the Sand by Leona Lewis.

The performance was extra special since the song was the same one his sister Bindi Irwin, danced to as a tribute to her late father with her partner Derek Hough during Season 21, which they won.

During rehearsal, Bindi Irwin told her brother how proud she was of him.

"There’s a lot of weight," Robert told Today news. "I want it to be our best dance yet, to be honest."

Bindi Irwin also said about her performance, "A part of me healed that day. So now I hope that Robert gets that same experience."

Robert also shared a post from the event, with sweet caption.

He wrote, "Tonight was healing. This dance was emotional, beautiful and so deeply meaningful. I carry Dad’s legacy with me in everything I do, and it was a privilege to dedicate our foxtrot to him."

He went on to express his gratitude towards his sister, adding, "Thank you bindisueirwin for inspiring us with your freestyle to this song, and thank you witneycarson for once again choreographing such a beautiful story through dance and for creating a space for me to convey raw emotions that I’ve never gotten to share before."

Steve died on September 4, 2006 from stingray attack.

Next episode of Dancing With the Star will be aired live on November 18.
