King Charles, who had already been making efforts to ward off speculation about his deepening health crisis, nearly took a nasty tumble as he arrived in Rome for a historic visit.
The monarch landed in Ciampino, along with his wife Queen Camilla, on Wednesday, October 22, where they were welcomed by the British Ambassador to the Holy See, Christopher Trott, and Monsignor González, head of the Vatican Protocol.
Charles and Camilla had flown in the British Government plane from Farnborough airport and made their way to the aircraft’s steps to officially kick off their visit.
However, there was a brief moment caught on camera where Charles was seen barely holding himself together as he seemingly put his right foot in a slightly wrong angle. He was quick to grab the railing tightly to steady himself and continue down the steps, as Camilla followed behind oblivious of her husband’s struggle.
It was a close call for the King, who is already undergoing treatment for his undisclosed form of cancer.
Sources maintain that Charles’s health condition is much more serious than the Palace lets on.
Hence, Prince William has been taking a leading role in the crucial matter, with removal of Prince Andrew’s titles reflecting the situation behind closed doors. Nothing has been confirmed officially from the Palace as of yet.
