Taylor Swift earns appreciation from George Michael’s estate: More inside

George Michael’s estate has recently expressed their gratitude to Taylor Swift for featuring the late music legend’s iconic song on her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.

In a statement shared on the late rocker’s official Instagram account, the estate said that Michael, who died in 2016 at 58, praised Taylor for including his song in her new album.

“We were delighted when Taylor Swift and her team approached us earlier this year about incorporating an interpolation of George Michael’s classic song ‘Father Figure’ into a brand new song of the same title to be featured on her forthcoming album,” read the statement.

It added, “When we heard the track, we had no hesitation in agreeing to this association between two great artists and we know George would have felt the same.”

“George Michael Entertainment wishes Taylor every success with The Life Of A Showgirl and Father Figure,” concluded the statement.

For those unversed, Michael is credited as a co-writer of Taylor’s Father Figure, along with the singer herself and producers Max Martin as well as Shellback.

Meanwhile, Taylor’s new album, which includes 12 songs, also incorporated references of her fiancé, Travis Kelce.

Last month, the singer, who announced her album on New Heights podcast, revealed that there are “no other songs coming” after the release of 12 tracks.
