The iconic statue of Dr Alfred Woolner (1878-1936), placed outside Punjab University’s Old Campus on The Mall, is simultaneously a picture of majesty and apathy. Where it reminds the students and history lovers of the varsity’s glorious days, for a lot of passers-by it’s sadly no more than a black, stony carving that anyone can play with.
