LAHORE:Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial revealed on Monday that 57 sports development schemes across the province will be completed by June 30, with a fresh batch of projects set to be inaugurated in early July.
The announcement came during a high-level review meeting held at Punjab Stadium, focusing on strategic pillars including infrastructure, talent development, and youth engagement. Accompanied by DG Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal, and other senior officials from the Sports Department and PMU, Sial underscored the govt’s commitment to expanding the province’s sports infrastructure. "Construction is ongoing on 205 sports schemes, reflecting our sustained focus on uplifting facilities at grassroots and district levels," he noted. Among the flagship developments, a synthetic track is being laid at Zafar Ali Stadium in Sahiwal, while hockey turf installation in Dera Ghazi Khan has been completed. Rehabilitation of table tennis and squash courts at Faisalabad’s Al-Fateh Sports Complex is also finalised, alongside infrastructure projects including Cricket Ground Renala Khurd, Okara E-Library, and Yazman Sports Complex. Emphasising the urgency of delivering gymnasiums across Punjab, Sial called for expedited work on pending sports halls and training spaces.
