Municipal officer suspended over fee collection at cattle sale point

LAHORE:Provincial Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq visited Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat on the instructions of CM Maryam Nawaz and reviewed the provision of facilities and cleaning arrangements at cattle sale points.

The minister expressed strong anger over complaints of fee collection contrary to government instructions in Mandi Bahauddin. The LG secretary, on the instructions of minister, suspended Chief Officer of Municipal Committee Mandi Bahauddin Ahmed Waqar Shahid on the violations of instructions. Zeeshan Rafiq returned the amount collected from the citizens on the spot for buying and selling animals. He said that the Punjab govt has established temporary cattle markets on the basis of 'no profit no loss'. "No slip fee can be collected from the citizens".

The LG minister also took feedback from the buyers and traders present at the sale points on the facilities provided. He said that CM has ordered not to collect any money at the sale points. He warned that strict action will be taken against violation of the govt decision. He said that he will continue to visit different areas during the three days of Eid-ul-Azha. "All possible steps will be taken for the convenience and ease of the citizens", he pledged.
