LAHORE:There is a need to rationalise the size of police force according to the size of respective districts in order to effectively curb crimes in the province.
"The police force in district Kasur is fewer in number as compared to the number of police force in district Sheikhupura despite former is bigger than the latter in terms of territory," said Kasur District Police Officer Essa Khan Sukhera while speaking at a session organised by National Vision Think Tank (NVTT) held in Lahore on Wednesday.
The participants and members of the think tank including Ahsan Ziaur Rehman, M Ashraf, Ibrahim Sheikh, Amer, Mumtaz Saleem, Ishaq Gujar, M Noman, Shiraz Butt, Mian Fahd Zubair and others were present. Despite all the challenges, Essa Khan Sukhera said, providing justice to the people is the top priority of the police.
The role of the police department is very important to ensure the safety of the lives and property of the people. To a question regarding political pressures, he said, the politicians have their own compulsions; they are directly accountable to the public.
