LAHORE:SP Cantonment, Captain (Retd) Qazi Ali Raza, during an open court, ordered the arrest of two suspects for harassing a physically disabled woman.
According to the police spokesperson, the woman, who is paralysed in her legs, appeared outside the SP’s office to seek justice. On listening to her complaint in person, SP Raza directed the Mustafaabad Police to take prompt action. Consequently, the suspects—identified as Zahid and Dildar—were arrested for allegedly using abusive language and harassing the woman. A case was registered against them.
5,164 arrested for violating traffic rules
Lahore traffic police arrested 5,164 individuals for violating major traffic rules across the City. According to a police spokesperson, action was taken against five key categories of violations. The highest number of arrests—2,828—were made for one-way violations, followed by 1,266 arrests related to dangerously overloaded and illegal body-modified vehicles.
Murder suspect arrested
Raiwind City Investigation Police arrested a suspect involved in murder of a 36-year-old woman. The incident took place in the Raiwind City area. Using modern technology and human intelligence, the police successfully apprehended the accused. According to investigators, the suspect allegedly strangled Kaneez with a dupatta following a minor dispute.
Meanwhile, the Dolphin Squad Tuesday arrested two suspects in the Millat Park area. According to the squad's spokesperson, a patrol team signaled two motorcyclists to stop, but they fled while brandishing weapons. After a chase, the squad cornered the suspects at Shabab Chowk, where they aimed pistols at the officers. The police arrested them after a brief struggle.
2 officials held for bribery
Two traffic wardens were suspended following allegations of accepting bribes at the Manawan Licence Centre on Tuesday. According to police sources, wardens Usman and Sohail took bribes from three applicants, promising them success in their driving tests. Despite the payments, the candidates failed, leading them to file complaints.
Woman commits suicide
A 22-year-old woman took her own life by consuming poisonous pills in Shahenshah Chowk, Hanjarwal. She was reportedly distressed due to domestic issues.
