LAHORE:The effective intervention by the Punjab Ombudsperson has resulted into the disbursement of outstanding dues amounting to Rs1,739,000 to the family of the late Musarrat Nazir, a teacher at Government Girls Primary School, Shamsabad, who passed away on April 27, 2023, said a handout on Friday.
In compliance with the Ombudsperson’s directive, her daughter, Tahzeeb Fatima, has also been appointed to an OSD post. In her complaint, Tahzeeb Fatima stated that despite her mother’s demise, the education department had not released the pending dues. She shared that an OSD post had earlier been approved for her father, M Raza, who passed away on December 19, 2023. As the unmarried daughter and sole legal heir, she was eligible for the appointment, which was subsequently finalised following the Ombudsperson’s orders.
The Punjab Ombudsperson also acted decisively on multiple other complaints filed under Rule 17-A, leading to the appointment of 11 individuals to government positions.
These individuals had long awaited employment due to administrative delays, which were addressed effectively. Furthermore, in three related cases, financial dues totaling Rs2,533,000 were released alongside OSD appointments. Ayesha Hamid, Punjab Ombudsperson, stated that provision of speedy justice to the people was the top priority of the office.
