Man hit to death near Sherakot

LAHORE:A man died in a road accident near Sherakot's Ring Road area on Thursday. M Anwar, 65, of Minchanabad, Bahawalnagar, was trying to climb a road barrier when a motorcycle hit him, leaving him dead on the spot.

The motorcyclist fled the scene following the mishap. In a separate incident, police in Shahdara recovered the body of a 35-year-old man. Edhi officials reported that initial observations suggest the deceased may have been a drug addict.

Abducted girl recovered; suspect held

A Mobile Squad at Lahore’s Jinnah Bus Terminal thwarted a kidnapping attempt and recovered a 14-year-old girl from an alleged abductor on Thursday. According to a police spokesperson, the suspect, Ali Raza, was attempting to forcibly take the girl from the terminal when she raised an alarm, alerting the Mobile Squad. Initial investigations revealed that the victim, 'S', had been kidnapped from Arifwala, with an abduction case already registered at Sadar Arifwala Police Station. The suspect and the victim were handed over to Chuhng Police for further investigation and action.

Imposter arrested

Missri Shah police Thursday arrested a fake police officer who wanted to secure the release of a suspected drug dealer. During a targeted operation, Missri Shah police detained a drug peddler and recovered 1,420 grams of hashish and 105 grams of crystal meth (commonly known as ice) from his possession. Shortly after, a man wearing a police cap arrived, claiming to be a police officer, and demanded the release of the detained drug peddler. However, SHO Missri Shah, Ali Zaib Dastgir, grew suspicious of the man's credentials. When questioned, the impostor failed to provide satisfactory answers. The police detained and booked the man, identified as Abdul Kareem Raza.
