Punjab to promote sports solidarity among provinces

LAHORE : Punjab Minister for Labour, Human Resource, Youth Affairs and Sports Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar said that Punjab Sports Department will promote sports solidarity among the provinces with the collaboration of Centre and in this regard, a combine sports calendar of Punjab and Centre will be prepared.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at National Hockey Stadium. Several important federal and provincial sports issues were also discussed in the meeting.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial and DG Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry attended the meeting in person while Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Mohiuddin Wani and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Director General Yasir Pirzada participated in the meeting through video link.

Addressing the meeting, Punjab Minister for for Labour, Human Resource, Youth Affairs and Sports Faisal Ayub Khokhar, regarding Pakistan and Bangladesh sports relations, said that Pakistan and Bangladesh have cordial sports ties. “The players of both the countries will make reciprocal tours for playing sports matches. Besides this, the sports delegations of both the countries will also be exchanged”.

He further said that the players of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir players will visit Lahore to play matches and in return, the Punjab players will play matches in other provinces. “It is our prime mission to promote sports among the younger generation across the province”.

Faisal Khokhar said that a joint policy should be formulated for awarding prizes to players who won laurels at international level. “DG Sports Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry will form a WhatsApp group for joint sports working between the Centre and the provinces”.

Secretary IPC Mohiuddin Wani, on behalf of Centre, briefed the meeting on sports affairs. Wani said that a multi-purpose sports complex will be constructed in the city of Faisalabad. “Sports relations will be expanded further with Bangladesh”.
