LAHORE:Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar Thursday reviewed the Annual Development Programme.
Chairing a meeting at Central Police Office (CPO), the IGP commended the Multan, Sargodha, and Bahawalpur regions for their excellent performance in the completion of development projects under the ADP. He instructed that all development projects funded through supplementary grants must be completed by June 30 at all costs. Addressing the officers, the IGP said Punjab Police ranks first among all departments in the timely utilisation of development funds.
He maintained that Saiban (shelters) will be constructed in Chung, Raiwind, and Kahna, and that 220 Saiban shelters will be completed next year. He announced that the Safe Cities Project will be extended to all 144 tehsils of Punjab.
AIG Development Muhammad Abdullah Lak briefed the meeting on the use of supplementary grants for the completion of development projects. He said under the ADP, an allocation of Rs 5 million per unit has been made for the construction of SDPO offices. The IGP directed officers to ensure that construction work for Smart Police Stations, Safe Cities initiatives, and check posts is completed within the stipulated timelines. All RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs, along with other relevant officers, assured their commitment to completing the development projects within the given timeframe.
Crime declines in first 100 days of 2025, claims DIG
DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran Thursday attributed the significant decline in crime rate during the first 100 days of 2025 to the police's effective strategy and use of technology. According to him, the first 100 days have been far more peaceful compared to the same period last year.
He said each passing day strengthens our efforts to make Lahore more peaceful, saying the crime decline is proof of Police force’s commitment, teamwork, and modern strategy.
