LAHORE : Punjab Minister for Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering Bilal Yasin has inaugurated an underground rainwater storage tank at Sharif Park, Ichhra here on Saturday.

The event was attended by Wasa Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed, Wasa Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmad, Wasa Director General Tayyab Fareed, Hafiz Asad Ubaid, a large number of PMLN workers, and local residents.

Wasa MD briefed the minister on the project’s cost and timeline. The project is being constructed at a cost of Rs414 million and will have the capacity to store 1.5 million gallons of rainwater. Addressing inaugural ceremony, Bilal Yasin stated that rainwater from Sharif Park and the adjoining Ferozepur Road areas will be stored in this tank. These areas used to resemble rivers and streams after heavy rains but now this will no longer be the case, he added. The minister emphasised that the underground tank projects, costing billions of rupees, are aimed purely at public service and providing relief to the people. He also assured that all parks disturbed during construction would be fully restored. Bilal Yasin highlighted that for the first time in history, Wasa Lahore has been allocated such massive funding for development projects.
