LAHORE:Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Punjab has announced holding province-wide protests today (Tuesday) against the wheat crisis and what it calls anti-farmer policies.

JI Punjab chief Muhammad Javed Kasuri, speaking at a press conference, demanded the government fix wheat support price at Rs4,000 per maund. He warned that if demands are not met, demonstrations will move towards Lahore and Islamabad. JI leaders criticised the government’s failure to support farmers, rising input costs, and restrictions on wheat transport. Farmer leaders vowed to continue their struggle until fair prices and economic protection are ensured.
