LAHORE : A tragic traffic accident on Multan Road near Sundar police station claimed three lives, including two women, after a speeding mini-truck rammed into a motorcycle rickshaw from behind.

According to police reports, the overloaded rickshaw carrying five passengers was struck with such force that three occupants died instantly, while one sustained serious injuries.

The deceased were identified as Tayyaba Ashraf and Mumtaz Jameel (both residents of Sundar village), along with the rickshaw driver Allah Ditta from Bahawalnagar.

Rescue teams transported the bodies to the morgue via Edhi ambulances as police initiated legal proceedings. Preliminary investigations suggest the mini-truck driver lost control of his vehicle, though authorities are examining whether mechanical failure or reckless driving caused the collision.

Inter-district ‘Pastry Gang’ dismantled

Lahore's Sabzazar Investigation Police have dismantled an inter-district criminal network known as the 'Pastry Gang,' arresting three key members including their leader.

The gang, which specialised in robbing citizens immediately after bank transactions, was apprehended following an intelligence-based operation ordered by DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza. Police recovered Rs700,000 in stolen cash, a motorcycle used in the crimes, and illegal firearms during the raid.

Investigations revealed the gang's meticulous operation pattern - members would surveil bank customers and target them at gunpoint shortly after they made cash withdrawals.

The arrested suspects, identified as ringleader Ibrar alias 'Pastry' along with Mohsin and Asad, have confessed to committing multiple similar robberies across various districts including Rawalpindi.

Woman electrocuted

A 36-year-old woman employed at a private college in Gulberg died after suffering an electric shock while operating a water motor.

The victim, identified as Bilqees, was reportedly turning on the water motor when she came into contact with a live current. Rescue 1122 officials confirmed that she had already succumbed to her injuries by the time they arrived at the scene.

Police took custody of the body and completed legal formalities before handing it over to the family. Initial investigations suggest the incident resulted from faulty electrical wiring, though authorities are conducting further inquiries to determine the exact cause.

Man arrested for murdering wife

A man accused of murdering his wife in Gujjarpura arrested just hours after the fatal shooting. The victim, identified as Sadia, was allegedly gunned down by her husband Arif while she was seated in a rickshaw.

Police team traced and arrested Arif, recovering the murder weapon in the process. The suspect has been handed over to the investigation wing for further interrogation.

"This rapid response demonstrates our commitment to addressing violent crimes against women," stated a police spokesperson. The arrest comes amid growing concerns over domestic violence cases in the region.
