IGP for improving police service centres’ performance

LAHORE:A video link meeting was held at the Central Police Office under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar.

The meeting reviewed the performance of Police Khidmat Marakaz, Traffic Licensing & Driving Training Centres, and the implementation of protocols at Special Initiative Police Stations.

IG Punjab, while directing improvements in facilities at all police service centres, said that the quality of services at the centres should be improved so that citizens can benefit more from police services.

314 robbers held

Under the leadership of DIG (Operations) Faisal Kamran, Lahore Police launched crackdown on robbers and thieves and arrested 314 robbers of 140 gangs in one month. The police also recovered stolen property worth over Rs900m. Across the city, the police arrested 583 individuals who created fear and panic through illegal arms and recovered 5 Kalashnikovs, 37 rifles, 24 shotguns, 504 pistols and revolvers from them. The police also arrested 1,126 drug peddlers and recovered 637 kg hashish, over 83 kg ice, 70 kg heroin, and 7,079 litre liquor from them. Meanwhile, the police detained accused Tanveer and Mukhtar and recovered 750 kites and 16 spools from their possession. Manga Mandi police foiled an attempt by three armed robbers to snatch a motorcycle. Bandit Zaheer Abbas and his accomplices tried to snatch a motorcycle from a man and opened fire at the police when the police chased them. Zaheer suffered wounds when his accomplices opened fire on him. Dolphin Squad arrested Aqeel Jafri in Gulberg when he publicly displayed weapons from a vehicle. Nadirabad police arrested accused Rashid who attempted to sexually assault an 8-year-old girl. Batapur police arrested drug peddlers Khalid Umar and Ali Raza, and recovered more than 2 kg of hashish from them.’ Shadbagh police arrested suspects Ali Raza and his accomplices.
