LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Health Khawaja Salman Rafique said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is focusing all her attention on the improvement of the health sector. She wanted to provide the best health facilities to the people. The Punjab government has started mega projects worth billions of rupees to improve public health.
He said this while chairing a meeting regarding ongoing progress of hospitals in the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department on Saturday.
The meeting was attended by Special Secretary Development Zeeshan Shabbir Rana, Additional Secretaries Dr Waheed Asghar and Anwar Briar, CEO PIC Prof Bilal Mohi ud din and others. Dr Adnan Khan, Dr Azhar Mahmood Kiani, Dr Farqad Alamgir, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof Mahmood Ayaz, Vice Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Prof Masood Sadiq, Asad Ali, Ali Asim and Asif Raza from IDAP, Hamza, Mujtaba Siddiqui, Asim Javed participated in the meeting through video link.
Khawaja Salman Rafique reviewed the ongoing progress at Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research Lahore, Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Lahore and Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha in detail during the meeting. The authorities concerned also briefed the provincial minister in this regard.
Addressing the meeting, Khawaja Salman said that the Punjab government is taking historic and revolutionary steps in the health sector. The Punjab government is equipping the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research Lahore, Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Lahore and Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha with modern medical equipment.
The three mega projects are being completed for the people in a record time. International level medical facilities will be provided to the patients in the three hospitals.
Meanwhile, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique suddenly reached SIMS Lab and Collection Centre on Saturday. MS Services Hospital Dr Abid Mahmood Ghauri also
reached the spot. The provincial minister directed to increase the queue management system and counters in SIMS Lab and expressed strong anger over the poor arrangements in SIMS Lab. Khawaja Salman said that MS should create facilities for patients in hospitals. We will not tolerate even one percent negligence in the provision of cleanliness and other medical facilities. Surprise visits to hospitals will continue.
Meanwhile Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique visited Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Lahore. Project Director and other contractors were present on this occasion.
Provincial Health Minister reviewed the ongoing progress. Project Director briefed the minister about the master plan. Salman Rafique said that the Punjab government is constructing state-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Institutes of Cardiology in Lahore and Sargodha. Work is going on at a rapid pace on both the projects. The best health facilities will be provided to the people at their doorsteps.
The provincial minister said that according to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, we are committed to providing the best health facilities to the people.
Health secretary angry over non-availability of facilities in hospital
Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department Secretary Azmat Mahmood paid a surprise visit to Government Teaching Hospital Gujranwala. Special Secretary Operations Tariq Mahmood Rehmani was also present. Principal Gujranwala Medical College also reached the spot. Secretary Health visited the patients and gave feedback on the medical facilities.
During the visit, the provision of medicines in the hospital, attendance of doctors, medical facilities in the Chief Minister's Complaints Cell and other departments were reviewed. Instructions have been issued on the spot regarding patient care as per the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. It has been directed to display the duty rostrum at prominent places in the hospital. In the absence of an electronic list of medicines, the medical superintendent was directed to inquire from the concerned officers.
Azmat expressed his anger over the non-activation of the public address system during the emergency and ordered the immediate provision of chairs and benches for the bereaved families. He also ordered that a report on the implementation of the issued instructions be submitted by evening. The health secretary said that the situation is being reviewed by visiting government hospitals. Efforts are being made to ensure that patients do not face any problems in government hospitals. No negligence will be tolerated in the treatment and care of patients. We are trying their best to improve service delivery in government hospitals.
