LAHORE:The second Sanjh Sahit Mela will commence today (Saturday) at the Punjab Institute of Language, Art, and Culture (PILAC).
Organised by Sanjh Publications and Punjab Lok Sangat, this two-day literary festival will feature book launches, discussions on pressing national issues, musical performances, poetry recitals, and theatrical presentations. Book and food stalls will also be set up.
This year’s festival is dedicated to renowned Punjabi poet Ustad Daman. The event will begin with Amjad Saleem Minhas outlining the festival’s objectives, followed by a keynote address by Prof Dr Ali Usman Qasmi. Beenish Fatima Sahi, Director General of PILAC, will deliver the presidential remarks.
The festival will launch books, including Maas (Punjabi short stories), Aman Ke Khwab by Dr Khalid Sohail, the complete works of Shiv Kumar Batalvi, and Sanjha Qaida.
Panel discussions will explore topics such as the PECA Act, democratic and individual freedoms, growing religious extremism in the region, and water distribution among provinces: challenges and solutions.
