Anti-Crime Specialised Unit need of hour: IG

LAHORE:Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar Thursday chaired a meeting of Crime Control Department (CCD) at the Central Police Office.

The meeting reviewed the objectives of the CCD, human resources and logistics. Addressing the participants, the IGP said the Anti-Crime Specialised Unit is the need of the hour to eliminate heinous crimes and the CCD will be provided special support as all units of Punjab Police will work with it to ensure the eradication of crimes with full force.

Additional IG CCD Sohail Zafar Chatha said crime fighter police officers are part of the CCD and suppression of organised crime will be their mission. DIG Vigilance and Internal Accountability (CCD) will be responsible for the implementation of all SOPs. The names of regional and district officers for the CCD have been finalised and in this regard a notification will be issued soon.

Districts will provide elite police, technical and logistics support to CCD for raids. Senior officers, including DIG Telecommunication Imran Ahmar, SSP CTD Omar Salamat, SSP Telecommunication Captain (retd) Muhammad Ali Zia, DPO Hafizabad Atif Nazir and AIG Logistics Muhammad Abdullah Luck attended the meeting while Additional IG South Punjab Muhammad Kamran Khan, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs attended the huddle through video link.
