LAHORE:At least 12 people died, whereas 1,363 were injured in 1,186 accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Out of these, 590 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 773 victims with minor injuries were treated at the accident sites by Rescue medical teams.
Three die in separate incidents
Three people lost their lives in separate incidents across the city, prompting local police to initiate legal proceedings on Tuesday.
According to an Edhi Foundation spokesperson, a tragic road accident near Multan Road in Sabzazar claimed the life of a 28-year-old motorcyclist after he was crushed by a speeding truck. The victim's identity has not yet been ascertained. In another incident, a 36-year-old man, identified as Ali Ejaz, a resident of Depalpur, succumbed to his injuries after his motorcycle skidded due to high speed in the Harbanspura area. Meanwhile, a 52-year-old unidentified man reportedly lost his life due to a drug overdose in the Baghbanpura locality.
Driver held in cop’s murder case
Police Tuesday arrested a driver, who ran over and killed a cop on Ring Road near Kahna area two days back. Reportedly, the cop was waiting for a vehicle when a speeding car hit him, leaving him dead on the spot.
With the help of CCTV footage, the police identified the suspect as Nauman and detained him from the Defence area. The police also impounded the car. Meanwhile, Shahdara Town police arrested a man, who shot dead his stepfather over a domestic and property dispute.
Attique allegedly opened fire on his stepfather four days back in Shahdara Town, leaving him dead on the spot. He was arrested when the DIG Operations took notice of the incident and ordered his arrest. A special police team with the help of modern technology and human intelligence tracked and arrested him.
Man arrested for killing woman
Harbanspura Investigation Police have arrested a man for the gruesome murder of a 65-year-old woman Shakeela Bibi. The accused, a painter who had worked at the victim’s house 20 days ago, attacked her with a wooden stick, inflicting head injuries.
He then dragged her to the washroom, tied her toes with an electric wire, and electrocuted her to death - all to steal her mobile phone. Shakeela, a mother of four, was living alone. Police have arrested the suspect and launched further investigations.
Labourer dies after falling off roof
A 30-year-old labourer died after falling off the fourth floor of an under-construction building in Garden Town’s Tariq Block on Tuesday. Zaman, accidentally slipped while working at the building and died instantly.
Biker dies after colliding with buffalo
A motorcyclist lost his life on Kotli Road, Manawan, after colliding with a buffalo on Tuesday. Emergency response teams arrived at the scene following reports of the incident. Despite efforts, the victim died on the spot.
