Punjab unveils CM’s laptop initiative

LAHORE:In a significant move towards a digitally empowered Punjab, the provincial government has unveiled the Chief Minister's Laptop Programme, aiming to distribute 110,000 high-tech laptops to eligible students across the province, Punjab Higher Education Department announced it on Monday. The initiative is designed to provide cutting-edge technology to students, enabling them to step into a brighter, tech-driven future.

The programme targets BS (1st and 2nd Semester) students in public sector colleges of the Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab, all public sector universities, as well as medical and dental colleges. Each laptop distributed under the scheme will feature a powerful Core i7, 13th Generation processor, ensuring students have access to the latest technology for their academic and professional growth.

As per the eligibility criteria applicants must hold a domicile of Punjab. BS students must have secured 65% or above in their intermediate exams while medical and dental students must have achieved 80% or above in intermediate. Interested students can apply online through the official portal: cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk.

Int’l Women’s Day event

Lahore College for Women University's Department of Gender and Development Studies and Women Development Center organised a conference to celebrate International Women's Day under the theme of : ‘Accelerate Action towards Gender Equity’.

Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, former minister and senior member of Women Parliamentarian Caucus highlighted the vision of government for the women empowerment and emphasised the implementation of laws for women empowerment.

Prof Dr Uzma Qureshi, Vice Chancellor, LCWU, in her address motivated the young girls to come forward, become resilient and play their role in leadership positions. She also inaugurated an exhibition on this occasion.

Dr Uzma Ashiq Khan, In- Charge Gender and Development Studies Department, LCWU, highlighted that students especially young girls could make a difference in the lives of their families so investment in their education and financial empowerment could bring a positive change in the society.

Associate degree forms submission date

Punjab University Registration Branch has issued a rescheduled notification of private registration. According to details, the last date for submission of registration forms for private candidates of Associate Degree Arts / Science / Commerce annual examination 2025 with double fee is March 10, 2025.
