Animals distributed among women

LAHORE:A ceremony was held to distribute livestock assets among deserving women at Government Model Higher Secondary School Khanewal. The animals were distributed among 200 women through the balloting of district quota. The chief guest of the ceremony was Provincial Minister for Livestock and Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani. On this occasion, MPA Usama Khan Leghari, Rana Saleem Hanif, Usama Fazal, Chaudhry Zia-ur-Rehman, former provincial minister Haji Irfan Ahmed Daha, Secretary Livestock Punjab Saqib Ali Ateel and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Salma Suleman were also present. Provincial Minister for Livestock and Agriculture Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, while addressing the ceremony , stated that for the first time, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz thought about the welfare of destitute women. The minister explained that Rs5,000 is also being given as feed for heifers. The backbone of our economy is agriculture, of which 65 percent belongs to livestock. He said that the staff of the Livestock Department will also conduct regular check-ups of the distributed animals. Another Rs1 billion animals are being purchased for deserving women. Livestock assets are also being increased to accomplish the meat demand. The minister highlighted that our government has fulfilled all the promises in one year. A clear difference will be seen after four years. Later, after draw of balloting, heifers were handed over to deserving women.
