10 Ramazan Bazaars to be set up in city

LAHORE : Lahore Divisional Commissioner Zaid bin Maqsood chaired a video link meeting to assess arrangements for Ramazan Bazaars, sugar sale points, anti-encroachment operations, and other key initiatives.

During the briefing, it was revealed that 10 model Ramazan Bazaars will be set up, with administrative arrangements in the final stages. Lahore will have 18 sugar sale points, with all necessary preparations completed.

Commissioner Lahore directed that cleanliness in Ramazan Bazaars must not be compromised. He emphasised that municipal arrangements for these bazaars have been scheduled at the district level across the division.

Highlighting the Punjab Chief Minister’s priorities, he stressed that cleanliness, the removal of encroachments, and urban beautification must be ensured. He instructed officials to improve public services while keeping key performance indicators in focus. The Commissioner Lahore was also given a comprehensive briefing on the ongoing anti-encroachment operations in all districts.

The meeting was attended via video link by Additional Commissioner Abdul Salam Arif, DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza, DC Nankana M Tasleem Rao, ADC Kasur Rana Musa, and DC Sheikhupura Shahid Imran Marth.

Directive to restore green belts

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza directed officials to take necessary actions for the restoration of green belts. He also issued clear instructions to the MCL to complete patchwork wherever required.

Lahore Deputy Commissioner issued these directions during his visit to various areas in Tehsil City early in the morning on Saturday.

He inspected cleanliness measures at Data Darbar surroundings, Mori Gate, Saggian Bridge, and Sabzazar D-Block.

Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL) Chief Officer Shahid Abbas Kathia, Assistant Commissioner City Rai Babar Ali, and other officials were also accompanied the DC. AC City Rai Babar briefed the team, stating that they are actively working in the field to improve cleanliness and administrative matters. Noticing waste in Mori Gate drain, he ordered WASA authorities to ensure immediate cleaning on a priority basis.

Similarly, upon identifying waste in a vacant plot in Sabzazar D-Block, LWMC officials were instructed to clear it without delay.

The DC emphasised the need for a comprehensive strategy to enhance the cleanliness mechanism across the city. He also ordered immediate action against illegal parking stands at Data Darbar and other locations.
