LAHORE:Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik’s wife Mushaal Malik has said Kashmiri people are fighting against India’s one million army, adding if the Kashmiri people had not stopped India, it would have moved towards Pakistan.
She was addressing a seminar organised by the Department of History and Pakistan Studies, Punjab University. On this occasion, Chairman Department of History, Prof Dr Mehboob Hussain, faculty members and students participated.
In her address, Mushaal Malik said that after August 5, 2019, the genocide of Kashmiris increased and they were being targeted for killing. She said that occupied Kashmir had turned into the worst prison in the world. She said that ‘we are throwing our generations into the freedom struggle of Kashmiris’. She said that her mother has made her daughter and her granddaughter the vanguard of this freedom movement. She said that Kashmir is a long-standing conflict, where the Kashmiri people have been striving for their rights to self-determination for decades.
Dr Mahboob Hussain said that the seminar was important to highlight the historical and research importance of the Kashmir issue in which Mushaal Malik raised questions on the struggle of the Kashmiri people, Indian atrocities and the impartiality of the judicial system. He said that Mushaal Malik’s appeal to make Yasin Malik’s sacrifices and the partiality of the Indian judicial system a subject of research has attracted the attention of students and teachers towards an important national and human issue. He also highlighted the research being done on Kashmir at PU and the role of the history department in this regard.
