LAHORE:Two accused of a double murder managed to escape from police custody handcuffed. The incident took place at Sessions Courts, where the accused were brought for their appearance in a court. According to sources, the police had escorted the two suspects to the court. However, under mysterious circumstances, both accused managed to flee from the premises.
Fugitive arrested from abroad
Police arrested a dangerous fugitive wanted in dozens of serious cases, including extortion and robbery from Croatia.
Giving details, a Punjab police spokesperson said fugitive Iftikhar Ahmad had Rs500,000 head money. A team of police led by Inspector Khalid Nawaz reached Pakistan from Croatia early in the morning with the fugitive. The number of dangerous fugitives arrested from foreign countries this year has reached eight. Proclaimed offender Iftikhar Ahmad was wanted by the Sialkot police for 17 years in dozens of cases, including extortion and robbery. Police got Interpol to issue a red notice for proclaimed offender Iftikhar Ahmad.
440 arrested under Anti-Kite Flying Act
Lahore Police arrested 440 individuals and registered 429 cases under the Anti-Kite Flying Act, this year. According to Lahore Police spokesman, a total of 20,664 kites and 621
spools of string were confiscated from the arrested individuals.
Among the arrested, 92 were from the City Division, 146 from the Cantt Division, 28 from the Civil Lines Division, 28 from the Saddar Division, 56 from Iqbal Town and 90 from Model Town.
Man arrested for raping maid
Defence B police arrested a man for raping his maid. The accused Maqsood called the maid (A) to clean his room and forcibly raped her. Police have registered a case against the accused on the complaint of the victim's husband.
